bhaja govindam bhaja govindam - Adore the lord, adore the lord,
govindam bhaja mudhamate - Adore the lord O fool,
samprapte sannihite kale - When the appointed time (for departure) comes,
nahi nahi rakShati dukrunjkarane - the repetition of grammatical rules will not indeed save you.

mudha jahihi dhanagamatrshnam - O fool, leave off the desire of wealth;
kuru sadbuddhim manasi vitrshnam - create in the mind thoughts about reality, devoid of passion.
yallabhase nija karmopattam - what you get -i.e., what you have achieved through your past deeds
vittam tena vinodaya cittam - with that, satisfy your mind.

yavadvittopArjana saktah: - As long as you have the ability to earn money,
tavannija parivaro raktah: - so long will your dependents be attached to you.
pashcat jivati jarjara dehe - After that, when you live with an infirm body,
vartam kopi na prcchati gehe - no one will even speak to you a word.

ma kuru dhana jana youvana garvam - Do not be proud of wealth, kindred and youth;
harati nimeshat kala: sarvam - Time takes away all these in a moment.
mayamayam idam akhilam hitva - Leaving aside this entire (world) which is of the nature of
brahma padam tvam pravisha vidhitva - an illusion, and knowing the state of brahman, enter into it.

sura mandira taru mula nivasa: - Living in temples or at the foot of the trees,
shayya bhutalam ajinam vasa: - sleeping on the ground, wearing deer-skin, renouncing all possession
sarva parigraha bhoga tyaga:
kasya sukham na karoti virAga: - and thier enjoyment - to whom will not dispassion bring happiness?

bhagavat gIta kincitadhita - For him, who has studied the Bhagavatgita, even a little,
gangajalalava kanikapita - who has drunk a drop of the Gangawater, and who has performed
sahrdapi yena murari samarca - the worship of the destroyer of the demon Mura (viz Srikrishna)
kriyate tasya yamena na carca - at least once, there is no tiff with Yama

punarapi jananam punarapi maranam - Repeated birth, repeated death and repeated lying in
punarapi janani jatare shayanam - mother's womb - this transmigratory process is extensive and
iha samsare bahudustare - difficult to cross;
krpaya pare pahi murare -  save me, O destroyer of Mura, through your grace.

artham anartham bhavaya nityam - Wealth is no good: thus reflect always; there is not the
nastitata: sukhalesha: satyam - least happiness there from; this is the truth.
putradapi dhana bharjam bhitih: - For the wealthy there is fear even from a son;
sarvatraiSha vihita riti: - everywhere this is the regular mode.

geyam gitA nama sahasram - The Bhagavatgita and the Sahasranama should be sung;
dhyeyam shripati rupamajashram - the form of the lord of Lakshmi ( Vishnu) should be always meditated on;
neyam sajjana sange cittam - the mind should be led to the company of the good;
deyam dinajanaya ca vittam - and wealth should be distributed among the indigent.

gurucharanambuja nirbhara bhakta: - Being devoted completely to the lotus-feet of the Master,
samsaradaciradbhava mukta - become released soon from the transmigratory process.
sendriyamAnasa niyamadevam - Thus, through the discipline of sense and mind-control,
drakshyasi nija hrdayastam devam -you will behold the deity that resides in your heart.
